We will tell you why and for whom they were made.
Military researchers have developed a special nano-coating for socks that blocks bad odor from feet after being in boots for a long time!
The new technology for covering the fabric was developed primarily for the military, since they have to wear shoes for several hours, and maybe even days. To avoid sweat odor and foot infections, the scientists created a coating of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) .
As writes Popular Mechanics, the effectiveness of the new invention was tested already on 148 cadets of the Thai Naval School, as well as at the Mahidol University Hospital.
“Previous studies have shown the antibacterial effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles, so our research team decided to test how this method works in real conditions,” the scientists noted.
According to the researchers themselves, this development was pushed by the observations of Dr. Punyavi Ongsri. It was he who initially pointed out this problem because the soldiers most often have infectious diseases in the foot area.
