10 Worst Sex Scenes In Movie History

Cinematography is famous for episodes of idealized sex, which generate heightened expectations from the real process. But it also happens that films give us terrifying love scenes: awkward, fake and mannered. Time Out has selected the 10 worst of them.

Wet Hot American Summer (2001)

The satirical film pokes fun at the popular 80s sex comedies. The action takes place on the last day of the summer camp. The sex scene between Ben and McKinley, according to Bradley Cooper, was supposed to be the only serious one in the entire film. However, the expressions on the actors’ faces turned it into a parody of sex.

Their facial expressions are so exaggerated that they resemble emoji rather than real human feelings. The film flopped at the box office and was scolded by critics, but over time it became a cult film.

Showgirls (1995)

The creation of the director of “Basic Instinct”, Paul Verhoeven, awaited an unenviable fate – the film was hated by both critics and viewers. Conceived as a satire on show business, the picture turned out to be indistinct, although over time it began to attract more positive reviews. One of the main problems is considered to be Elizabeth Berkeley’s performance: in many scenes she behaves unexpectedly aggressively. During sex in the pool, the body of her heroine Nomi twitches violently under the high pressure of water. The result – the film actually cost the actress her career.

“The Room” (2003)

“The Room” is rightfully considered one of the worst films in the history of cinema: caricature acting, banal plot and strange editing. The sex scene between the main characters, Lisa and Johnny, turned out no better. After a set of romantic stereotypes – rose petals, a red dress, pop music, candles – the lovers get down to business.

However, judging by the footage, Johnny had sex not with Lisa, but with her navel. There are tons of other awkward and funny moments in the film, including those related to sex – and many fans love him for just that.

“Body of Proof” (1993)

Lawyer Frank Delaney defends Rebecca, who is suspected of murdering her lover during sex. Fascinated by her, he decides to risk his life and finds himself in bed with a possible murderer. Madonna’s heroine generously pours the lawyer with champagne and wax from a burning candle, and then licks the resulting substance.

Defoe in this scene looks more tortured than enjoying. The film flopped at the box office, and the singer won the Worst Actress nomination at the Golden Raspberry Awards.

Howard the Duck (1986)

“Watchmen” (2009)
